Alpha 0.4.0 is now on itch.io, our biggest update since launch. Chapter 1 no longer ends after the boss: the story carries on into Chapter 2, Act 1. You can also play right in your browser on the itch page. If you played before, please download it again. The file shown under our earlier devlogs is an old build.

What's new
- Story: after Valerius falls, Ramos awakens the Red Shadow, faces judgment, and meets Commander Alto and Saintess Elena in the Wolves' Prison. A first look at Chapter 2, Act 1 follows him to the capital, Astropolis.
- Valerius reworked: two phases with separate health, a shattering halo, a new ultimate and last words, new team-made pixel art, and a "Block!" prompt to open the fight. He no longer attacks mid-dialogue, and phases and the kill drop healing orbs.
- Ramos: Chapter 1 is sword-only. The Red Shadow awakening unlocks the shadow skill and ultimate. New title: the Red Wolf of Bâtard. With a single sword, E re-grips your blade.
- World: moving between areas shows a short loading screen with where you're going, and the map (M) is tidied into one row per region. The game autosaves in every area.
- Combat: clearer drop rules, the grappling wire from the start, a hands-on finisher tutorial, and wraiths that close in on you.
- Tutorial and cutscenes: tutorial cards moved to the top-left so they don't cover the fight, and ESC skips a whole cutscene in one go.
- Dialogue: full-body Ramos portraits with 8 expressions and a new Jedrick portrait.
- Fixes: the awakening and judgment scenes could be cut short, skipping a cutscene could skip the next one, and the quest log stalled in Chapter 2. All fixed.
Known issues
- Chapter 2, Act 1 uses temporary sprites, and Ariel's sparring match is a practice dummy for now.
- The prison scene is very dark.
- Browser saves live in your browser's storage, so clearing site data deletes them.
